Solomon Islands
From August 7th to August 9 2025
Day 1
We flew in from Nadi, Fiji and landed around 3pm. The ride to the hotel was about 40 minutes and we chanted into the Heritage Park. While driving to the hotel our driver gave us insights about the Solomon Islands. He said within 6 years, everything there would be owned by the Chinese.
We got to the hotel, hit the gym, then opted to stay in this night and skip dinner (a short healthy fast).
Day 2
In the morning we woke up, went to the gym again, then had a delicious breakfast at the hotel. We then walked to the local market where it was bustling as you can imagine for a Friday afternoon. Ladies were selling vegetables, sea weed, peanuts, papayas, bananas coconuts, coconut oil, rice, ginger, potatoes, greens, onions, zucchinis, and used clothing (t shirts for $2). There were parts of it that made us feel like we were back in Africa.
The highlight of the market was the young gentleman playing his guitar and singing church hymns in the middle of the market, and all the farmers joining in on the singing.
We spent the rest of the afternoon back at the hotel relaxing, had lunch (penne arrabbiata & beef noodle soup), Hailey went for a 60 minute massage, then went to dinner at the hotel (chicken biryani & fried rice). We went for a 30 minute walk after dinner and then called it a night.
Day 3
We went to the gym in the morning for a lengthly exercise, Max had a 60 minute massage with Michelle from the Philippines at 10am, and we left for the airport at 11:30 to hop on our Air Niuguini flight. Vanuatu here we come!
